Melbourne
Local Transport

Melbourne has a very structured local trasnport system, making it very easy for every visitor to explore every nook and corner of the city. Getting around Melbourne is a piece of cake. The MET operates a system of trains, electric trams and buses.

The service is frequent and all facilities are available from early morning 0500 hrs to midnight. Many of the attractions are easily accessible by the MET system.

The Melbourne Explorer bus runs daily from 1000hrs to 1600hrs and departs on an hourly basis from Flinders Street Station. The bus visits all the major highlights of Melbourne. Passengers can hop-on and hop-off at any of the eight points where the bus stops.

The airport is about 20 kms north-west of Melbourne and city trasnfers are availableby bus and taxi. Hourly city river cruises are available along the tree lined Yarra River aboard luxury cruise boats.

Myvaluetravel Note

  1. MET offers a series of flat-rate fares which permit passengers to change from trains, trams and buses with the same ticket.
  2. On weekends the MET service is reduced.
