Use of the public transportation system is a must to get around Sydney
comfortably. Moving around is convenient. Comfortable public transportation is
available in the form of buses, licensed taxis, trains, ferries and the city
monorail.
Monorail is an exciting and practical way to explore the City
Centre and Darling Harbour It is essentially designed to move around the
Darling Harbour and connects it to the City Centre.
Buses are the most convenient and widespread mode of transport
for commuting within the central area. They cover a much larger area of Sydney
than the trains.
The Sydney Explorer Bus follows a 28 Km route and is a great way to do
sightseeing. It connects the city's leading tourist attractions. Passengers can
leave or rejoin the bus at any marked explorer stops.
Trains get you faster to any destination than the buses and are
ideal for rush hours and to move out towards the suburbs. But a final transfer
by a bus or a ferry is required to reach the harbour side or beach
destinations.
Myvaluetravel Note :
The Sydney Pass offers comprehensive tourist ticket for unlimited travel of
public buses, ferries and inner city trains, harbour cruises and journeys on
Explorer buses.
The regular buses and trains finish around midnight. Later there is a good
network of night buses that get you around the city centre and to most of the
suburbs.
All platforms have designated "nightsafe" waiting areas and are painted to
indicate as much. In the late evening only two or three carriages are open.
